Collections Associate

As a Collections Associate at Tonik, you won't just be chasing payments—you'll be making a real impact on our customers' financial wellbeing. You'll balance empathy with efficiency, offering smart solutions while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with delinquent clients to secure payment commitments and educate them on the importance of maintaining good credit standing.
  • Provide clients with knowledge about their credit obligations and guide them towards financial health.
  • Use skip tracing tools to find clients and resolve issues quickly, always ensuring accuracy.
  • Stay on top of client accounts, ensuring timely follow-ups and escalating matters when necessary.
  • Keep client information up-to-date in our system, ensuring seamless data flow across teams.
  • Adhere to the Central Bank's regulations and Tonik's internal collection policies to ensure best-in-class service.
  • Be flexible in tackling new tasks as the landscape evolves—because at Tonik, we're constantly innovating.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Management to fulfil organizational and regulatory requirements.

Qualification

  • You've got 2-3 years of proven experience in collections or a related field.
  • You're familiar with collection techniques, local regulations, and the digital tools that make it all happen.
  • You're comfortable using MS Office and other collection systems. Bonus points for familiarity with new fintech tools.
  • You know how to find solutions that benefit both the customer and the company—using your strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • You're comfortable with a fast-paced environment and eager to grow in a startup culture that's all about agility and innovation.
  • You're highly motivated to meet targets and help us achieve our mission of financial inclusion for all.
