As our Operational Risk Lead, you’ll design and lead the systems that keep us sharp, compliant, and in control while we scale. You’ll guide teams, fine-tune frameworks, and bring operational resilience to the frontlines of Southeast Asia’s leading digital-only bank. This is a high-impact leadership role for a risk expert who can balance structure with startup energy—and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo in the name of smarter, safer growth.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the Chief Risk Officer
- Contributes to the efficient and effective functioning of the Risk Management Unit.
- Leads the implementation of the Operational Risk Management framework and in ensuring that all operational risk methodologies and policies are compliant to the minimum regulatory requirement and updated as relevant to state of the business
- Supervise a team of operational risk associates or officers, and ensure that the team is properly staffed, trained, and capable of supporting the effective implementation of risk management framework
- Provides consultation and guidance to the business and support units in the development and implementation of risk management programs.
- Implements and monitors risk management tools to manage and maintain risks within set thresholds, and should any operational risk issues arise, drive the discussions to address them
- Works in close coordination with control functions like Compliance and Audit.
- Acts as a liaison between Auditors (external/internal) and the auditee to oversee timely closure of open audit issues.
- Assists in the implementation of Business Continuity Management (BCM) program and activation at all business and support units within the organization; monitors and reports BCM incident updates.
- Implements the Outsourcing Risk Management framework and perform all necessary risk assessments prior to the onboarding of third parties, and subsequently all the post approval assessments on a regular and ongoing basis
- Helps in promoting risk awareness culture in the Bank, specifically in the understanding and application of the risk management framework, tools, policies, and standards.
- Participates/assists in the implementation of other risk management initiatives and activities.
- Assists in performing necessary secretariat functions for Risk Committee/s.
- Helps the unit in achieving the applicable KPIs.
- Performs ad hoc functions that may be assigned by the CRO.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in any business-related course preferably Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or other related field.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in a bank, consumer finance, or micro finance institution in the Philippines, at least 3-4 years of which should be in a lead Operational Risk Management role.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and practices within the financial services industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority.
- Strong analytical skills which are necessary to consult with partners/clients, analyse information and to develop compliant policies and procedures.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Advanced Excel, MS Word, Powerpoint)
- Responsible, self-motivated, must be capable of and enjoys working independently.
- Experience working in a start-up environments / FinTech is an advantage.
